The Reunion

The London Film School, in association with Ciné Lumière and Time Out Live, runs 'The Reunion' series. We ask director, key actors, producers and technicians to look back over a landmark film with a major legacy. In May 2013, this new series kicked off with a special screening of Trainspotting with Danny Boyle and members of the cast and crew, followed by Quadrophenia in September 2013 and The Full Monty in February 2014.

REUNIONS PAST

Here are links to past reunions posted on the HiBROW website:

TRAINSPOTTING

Danny Boyle’s adaptation of the ‘unadaptable’ seminal Scottish novel by Irvine Welsh redefined British film-making. What was it, or is it, about Trainspotting that made it such a stand-out critical and commercial success? How has it influenced the cinema that followed in its wake? Particularly, how has it influenced British cinema? Find out with this special screening and discussion with David Aukin, Danny Boyle, Robert Carlyle, Rachael Fleming, Masahiro Hirakubo, Andrew MacDonald, Ewan MacGregor, Allon Reich, Brian Tufano and Kave Quinn.

QUADROPHENIA

Mods, rockers, motorbikes and The Who combine to create an iconic British film, a cinematic celebration of youth, rebellion and style and, of course, the benchmark of film soundtracks. How has Quadrophenia influenced British cinema and pop culture? And why do we insist on referring to one of the most popular films of its era as a ‘cult classic’? Find out with Franc Roddam (Director), Toyah Wilcox (Cast), Phil Davis (Cast) and Mark Wingett (Cast), Sean Barton (Editor) Martin Stellman (Co-writer) and Bill Curbishley (Producer).

THE FULL MONTY

Celebrate the extraordinary success of the little British film that went on to secure over thirty awards. Did the cast and crew have any idea that their project would reap such rewards? And how did costume designer Jill Taylor convince the actors to leave only their hats on? Cast and crew at this Reunion included Simon Beaufoy (Writer), Peter Cattaneo (Director), Uberto Pasolini (Producer), Hugo Speer (Cast), John de Boorman (Cinematography), David Freeman (Editing), Jill Taylor (Costume Design).
