Succeeding as a Camera Crew Member in the Film Industry
Recently, we had the pleasure of speaking with Philip Sindall, a Regular Visiting Lecturer who teaches cinematography on our MA Filmmaking programme. With 45 years of experience in the camera department, Philip has worked as a camera operator on beloved films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Mamma Mia! (2008), Elizabeth (1998), Shakespeare in Love (1998), Inkheart (2008), and Mr. Bean's Holiday (2007), to name a few.

Enric's feature "TEMPUS FUGIT" has just been awarded twice in the USA. He says

awarded in San Francisco and Houston!
Last week the San Francisco International Film Festival awarded
Tempus Fugit the Golden Gate Award to Best Narrative
for Televisión, Long Format.
The award was given by a panel that chose amongst
200 TV Movies and TV series from all over the world.
Meanwhile, in Houston, Texas, the Worldfest conceded
Tempus Fugit the Special Jury Prize.

MIKE LEIGH IS A CRITICAL HIT
Our Chairman, Mike Leigh, has been honoured for Distinguished Services to the Arts by the Critics' Circle at a special lunch held at the Chelsea Arts Club. This announcement in THE STAGE newspaper goes on to say "The film director and playwright was presented with his award by vice-president John Marriott and president Mike Dixon. Past winners have included Ian McKellen, Harold Pinter and David Lean.
His best known stage play "ABIGAIL'S PARTY", recently revived at Hampstead Theatre. He is currently writing his first play for 11 years, to be presented at the National Theatre."
MARTIN STITT - C. 143 - FIRST FEATURE IN THE FEARLESS TALES GENRE FESTIVAL
Martin Stitt - Course 143 - is pleased to announce that his first feature entitled "NINE DAYS OF HELL" - "our homage to Roger Corman, the King of low budget film making, is having its world premiere at the Fearless Tales Genre Festival in San Francisco. Screening alongside titles such as 'REX STEELE : Nazi Smasher' and 'Teenage Bikini Vampires' - which gives you a flavour for the festival!"

"COMMENDED" & "TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT" CERTIFICATES AWARDED TO "SOLO AT THE LEARNING ON SCREEN AWARDS 2005
"SOLO" Written and directed by Marina Simoes, Cinematographer Shu-Hao Chu, Editor Carlos Armella has won a Commended Certificate Award in the category Student Production sponsored by JVC Professional and Technical Achievement Award for Sound and Lighting at the Learning on Screen Awards 2005, held in Bradford at the National Museum for Photography, Film and Television on Monday, 21st March. The certificate is signed by Clive Izard, Chairman of the Society for Screen-Based Learning and Murray Weston, Director, British Universities Film & Video Council.
CHRISSY HAS WON A FESTIVAL AWARD
Chrissy, our Librarian/Festival Co-ordinator, etc. has been presented with a Certificate and Paperweight Award by the Student Film Forum Foundation at their 2nd International Students Festival of Film Art, Balchik -2004, Bulgaria, 25.9.2004. For the way she presented LFS student work to the festival and the Certificate reads "Award for Best Represented Academy Within The Festival Programme".
