We are delighted to announce that Hold Steady, a short film by alumna of The London Film School Jessica Paliza, has been accepted into the Sanford International Film Festival. The short has been nominated for Audience Choice and Best Acting (Duo) Awards at the Festival.
The short tells the story of Jaclyn, a carefree fashion student from the US, who is attacked outside her home in London. When the outside world becomes a terrifying place, it’s much easier to turn up the volume, drown out the world and just disappear. Jaclyn creates a safe haven in her apartment and lives her life to the steady beat of a metronome. And all is calm, until new neighbour Mark disrupts her anonymous existence.
Hold Steady was made under the mentorship of BAFTA winner writer/director Richard Kwietniowski. Since the completion of filming, Jessica has written and directed several short films and music videos and her work has been featured on RollingStone.com, pitchfork.com, current.com and more.
The Sanford International Film Festival (May 25th-29th) is a community festival where each spring, there is a five-day celebration, screening and honouring the best independent films and filmmakers, and providing forums, workshops, and intimate looks behind the scenes of the best films in the world.
