LGBT Film Festival Success for LFS Student

Congratulations to LFS student Asli Umut whose 5th Term film We Were Waves Once has been accepted into the 26th Annual Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

The Toronto LGBT Film Festival will run from May 26 to June 5, with an aim to challenge attitudes and change lives through the promotion, production and exhibition of queer film.

In We Were Waves Once, Cocteau spends her days isolated in her flat observing other people's lives, trying to combat her writer's block. On the day that her estranged father dies, she meets young and wild neighbour Alicia, who just might be the inspiration she needs.

The short film will be shown as part of the Black Boxes programming, which is the festival's annual super fix of the best Diaspora LGBT shorts. The festival says, "This year's crop of films peers into the twists and turns behind our crushes and confessions. What we discover is that reality is always unpredictable."

We Were Waves Once will be screened June 3, 2016 at 9:45 PM.
