Petros Silvestros & Nikos Andritsakis break records with a second consecutive Crystal Bear at Berlin 2015

Petros Silvestros

Last year Petros Silvestros and Nikos Andritsakis (both LFS graduates) made history by being the first UK film to be awarded the Crystal Bear at the 2014 Berlinale with their short film MIKE.

This year, we are proud to announce that director Silvestros and cinematographer Andritsakis have broken yet another record by winning the Crystal Bear for Best Short Film once again for the second year running at this year's Berlinale, with A CONFESSION. This is the first time a director has won two years running in 65 years!

Here is what the Berlinale Jury had to say:

With clear, monumental images the winning short film stresses the relationship between authoritarian sway and helplessness, erupting into violence. Within a limited amount of shots the film develops an extraordinary tension and intensity. Years of silence and suppression ultimately culminate in a nightmare scenario, which left us stunned and shocked at the same time.

The synopsis of A CONFESSION: A mysterious and damaged young man must confess a terrible sin. What he reveals to the warm hearted priest resonates way beyond the confines of the Church, calling into question a relationship that has lasted over 1500 years.
