Fateme Ahmadi's CHANDRA at EEFF and PSFilmFest

Congratulations to LFS Filmmaking Alumna Fateme Ahmadi for her latest short CHANDRA.

Written and codirected by Fateme Ahmadi and supervised by award winning Director/Writer, Naomi Kawase, CHANDRA is the result of South Korea’s Busan International Film Festival and Youku, the largest Chinese video hosting website.

The talent incubator initiative, dubbed Asia's Masters and Newcomers Project, is designed to help unearth and promote emerging Asian filmmakers. Fateme Ahmadi, already an LFS MA Filmmaking graduate and Asmita Shrish met on the 2013 LFS Artists' Filmmaking Workshop led by celebrated artist filmmaker Shirin Neshat. 

CHANDRA will be co-directed by the both of them. Their prize included a grant and a premiere at the 2015 Busan International Film Festival. The film now premiered at the 20th Busan International Film Festival and Fribourg International Film Festival in Switzerland.

CHANDRA has now been officially selected to compete at the East End Film Festival and Palm Springs International Film Festival in June this year.

Fateme's graduation film titled ONE THOUSAND AND ONE TEARDROPS was one of the nominees for the Best UK Short at the East End Film Festival in 2015 and received Special Jury mention.



Synopsis: Chandra walks through earthquake-hit Kathmandu with his grandfather, to visit his mother and newborn sibling in hospital. What awaits them at the end?
