MA Filmmaking graduate Franco Volpi's grad film has had a very exciting run, from a Student Oscar finalist and Student BAFTA shortlist to 26 festivals around the world, including Palm Springs, Max Ophüls, and Sao Paolo. This number continues to increase, as Sol de Agosto has been selected for the highly respected Edinburgh International Film Festival 2019!
Established in 1947, EIFF is the world's oldest continually running film festival. The Festival has a focus on new talent and, with University of Edinburgh's MSc Film, Exhibition & Curation, has selected six student shorts as part of the programme Time Passes Me.
About the programme, EIFF says, "Have you ever witnessed the passage of time? Or looked back into your past and recognised those blurry memories unfolding like randomly woven dreams? By presenting this series of short films, we invite you to touch the edge of time, to chase the lost segment of life and to embrace the presence of absence."
Javier finds himself in his hometown of Buenos Aires. Following his father's death, he helps his ailing mother, who suffers from a bipolar disorder, in settling a legal dispute with her medical insurance.
Sol de Agosto is Written/Directed/Produced by Franco Volpi, with fellow LFS alumni Jackie Teboul as DoP, Andrés Salas as Co-Producer, Leandro Carvalho as Focus Puller, and Alex Grigoras as Colourist.
